Top 3 times referee Victor Gomes tried to steal the show

Last night the 2nd round of the 2018/2019 PSL season started and for all of you who love the league, you’re sure to have your opinions about referee Victor Gomes. The referee gave the Pirates right back, Mthokozisi Dube, a (soft) 2nd yellow card for “time wasting” last night and Dube had to leave the field.

We look back at his 3 most controversial games in charge:

1 . Starting the list in 2014 when he gave 5 penalties in 1 game (Ajax vs Sundowns). Pitso actually praised him for sticking to his guns back then. A lot has changed since then:

2 . In 2016 he sent off a ball-boy for mistakenly throwing a 2nd ball onto the pitch in a game between Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs.

3 . In more recent times (last season), Gomes sent Pitso Mosimane to the stands for being disgruntled about a decision (Pitso was right as well). Gomes had been sub-par the whole game and when (the then CT City captain) Robyn Johannes wasn’t pleased with another call…he got the red card.

Did we leave any game off the list? Let us know.
